About the role

ContactVerse has a large requirements estate held in workbooks, a documentation site generated from it, and a build whose status does not always agree with either. This role is for somebody who is genuinely good at the unglamorous discipline of making a requirement precise, traceable and true, and who would rather find the discrepancy than be told about it.

What you will do

• Turn a requirement into something a developer can build without asking three questions first.
• Keep the requirement, the technical design, the data model and the endpoint traceable to each other.
• Keep the schedule and the code in agreement, and chase what does not match.
• Write the acceptance criteria, and be the person who checks them honestly.
• Analyse how the product is actually used once there is usage to analyse, and feed that back into what gets built.
• Keep the documentation site accurate, because it is what the developers work from.
• Ask the question nobody else wants to: is this requirement still true?

Your first year

First 90 days. The requirements estate understood and the worst inconsistencies named.

By six months. Traceability holding from requirement through to shipped endpoint.

By twelve months. Nobody builds from a stale requirement, because the record is trusted.

What you will bring

• Three years or more in product, data or business analysis.
• Genuinely precise written English. Most of this job is writing.
• Comfortable in spreadsheets at a level beyond filtering, and unafraid of a large one.
• Can read an API specification and tell whether the implementation matches it.
• Has chased down a discrepancy that others had learned to live with.
• SQL, or the appetite to be good at it quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience of a documentation-as-code setup.
• Python for data work.
• Contact centre, telephony or conversational AI products.
• Has worked with offshore delivery teams.

What you will work with

Requirements workbooks, a generated documentation site covering several hundred endpoints, a staffing schedule the developers maintain, and a change request process that every requirement change passes through.

What this role is not

Not a note-taker. You will be expected to form a view and argue it.

How we work

Everything is remote and nobody is in an office. The team spans the UK and India, with the main working overlap in the evening IST. The precise pattern is agreed with you rather than imposed.

We are a small company and we write things down. Decisions are recorded, corrections are made to the source rather than to the output, and status is expected to be honest even when it is unwelcome.

Compensation and what we offer

• Fully remote working, with company-provided equipment where the role requires it.
• A role with unusual scope for its level, because the organisation is being built rather than joined.
• Direct access to the founders. There are no layers between this role and the people making the decisions.

How we will assess you

We assess against three or four weighted signals agreed before we read a single CV, rather than against years of experience or a list of tools. Expect three stages:

• Introductory conversation with our People team. About 30 minutes, covering the role, your background and what you are looking for. This first conversation may be with an AI assistant; you will be told at the time and may ask to speak to a person instead.
• Conversation with the hiring manager. About 60 minutes, going deep on what you have done and how you think.
• A working session on a real ContactVerse problem. About 60 to 90 minutes. Not a whiteboard exercise and not a take-home test you do unpaid in your evenings.

We aim to complete the process within three weeks and to give you a decision, with reasons, within three working days of the final stage.
